Busting crime: Police claim to have solved 23 murders

Police nabbed 62 suspects involved in these cases after collecting forensic and other evidence

ISLAMABAD: As the second murder in two days was reported on Friday, the Islamabad Police also claimed to have solved a total of 23 murders this year.

Operations SSP Sajid Kiani’s office said investigations had been completed and charge sheets had submitted to the courts in all 23 cases.

Last week, the police said that a total of 85 murder cases had been registered in the capital this year.

SSP Kiani said that it was the responsibility of police to trace the killers of innocent people and provide justice to the bereaved families.

He directed officials to priorities investigation of murders and book the culprits. Following these directions, the Islamabad Police, including its newly-formed Homicide Investigation Unit, worked to close the cases.

Sharing details, Kiani said they had nabbed 62 suspects involved in these cases after collecting forensic and other evidence.

Every available resources and latest investigation techniques were used to resolve these cases. The SSP appreciated the performance and announced cash awards and commendations for police officials that successfully investigated these murder cases and arrested the culprits.
