Conor McGregor to appear in ‘Game of Thrones’
Will he fight The Hound or the resuscitated Mountain?
Earlier this year, rumors emerged about top UFC fighter Conor McGregor being offered a cameo in Game of Thrones. According to Esquire, UFC president Dana White has now confirmed that McGregor will actually appear on the popular HBO series.
“It’s been agreed that McGregor will appear in one of the remaining two seasons of Game of Thrones,” a source said. “He was headhunted as it were by HBO, as one of the Game of Thrones directors is a huge UFC fan. They believed that he would be a perfect fit for the show.”
White told the hosts on Fox Sports Live this week, “I knew, a few months ago, that they were interested in putting him in the show. And I’m glad he did it. It’ll be great.”
It will be interesting to see who he knocks out. In a video that went viral last year, The Mountain and McGregor were seen trying to take each other down. The video gave rise to question: Who would win in a fight between the Irish MMA featherweight or the brick-wall of a man who ripped Prince Oberyn’s head in his last fight on the Game of Thrones?
With the confirmation of McGregor’s appearance on the show, we may see the fight happen as soon as the next season. The Mountain may not be his only potential opponent though. His long lost brother, The Hound, who returned last season may also pose threat to the Irish fighter’s dominance.
He may even do the unthinkable and appear as Arya’s next mentor and help her get revenge on her enemies. It’s safe to say that, whatever his role may be, Westeros is in danger zone and the possible storylines will keep on coming.
