The doctors from Services, Jinnah and Mayo hospitals demanded the government withdraws the Central Induction Policy (CIP) for MBBS immediately. They started a rally from Services Hospital and marched towards Mall Road, shouting slogans against the government. After the protest, the Young Doctors Association (YDA) leaders organised a press conference and threatened to go on a strike from December 10 onwards for an indefinite period.
Speaking on the occasion, YDA President Dr Maroof said they would protest across the province if the government did not withdraw CIP for MBBS immediately.
It appeared that the government was not interested in addressing YDA members’ concerns, he said, adding the CIP had opened the door to nepotism and violated merit.
