Pakistan Army's sacrifices, achievements in fight against terrorism appreciated

Lieutenant General Commander Joint Operations United Kingdom Sir John Lorimer called on Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the General Headquarters on Wednesday, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

During the meeting, Lieutenant General Lorimer acknowledged the sacrifices and achievements of Pakistan Army in the fight against terrorism and efforts for bringing peace and stability in the region.

Regional security issues and matters of professional interest were discussed during the meeting.

On Monday, Chinese Commander of the Peoples Liberation Army, Western Theatre General Zhao Zongqi Commaon met the Army chief and congratulated him on assuming the command of Pakistan Army.

The visiting general lauded Pakistan Army’s achievements in the fight against terrorism and continued efforts for regional peace and stability.


On the same day, General Qamar Bajwa called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and discussed issues pertaining to national security. Separately, General Bajwa met President Mamnoon Hussain who felicitated the former on assuming the command of Pakistan Army.

On December 2, Army chief said that every ceasefire violation along the Line of Control will be responded to with full force and in an effective manner. Further, Gen Bajwa said that India’s ‘aggressive posture’ solely aimed to divert the world’s attention from the atrocities being committed by their troops in held Kashmir.

He stressed that the core issue of Kashmir will have to be resolved between the two countries, in line with UN resolutions and aspirations of the people of the valley, for lasting peace in the region.

Lt Gen Bajwa was appointed as the 16th army chief of Pakistan Army on November 26.
