People tried to shame me, Kangana Ranaut says
Kangana continues to be an inspiration
Kangana Ranaut is the perfect example of a self-made Bollywood star who persevered and became what she is today.
The three-time National Award-winning actor faced a lot of backlash from people when she started out fresh from a small Himachal Pradesh town.
"I do not find anything embarrassing about my born existence. People tried to shame me, coming from small town, not being able to speak English, not being able to dress properly. But that didn't shake anything in me. I always operated from the place of my individuality," she told the PTI, according to NDTV.
Did Kangana Ranaut take a dig at Priyanka Chopra?
"Even today when I work, the first reaction I get from people is Oh, she is a delicate beautiful girl but as I go about my work, it disappears," she added.
Kangana firmly believes that it is important for women to be confident about their abilities. "Women have to first believe in themselves as equals, only then they will get that sort of treatment. Today I can proudly say, that within five days of shooting any film, I am treated like anyone else on sets," she said.
Here's why the Hrithik-Kangana spat is far from over
Kangana's debuted with Gangster in 2006 alongside Emraan Hashmi and Shiney Ahuja. She then appeared in Woh Lamhe and Shakalaka Boom Boom before making it big with Queen.
