Full of confidence: Will raise PPP flag at PM House, says Bilawal
PPP chairperson says Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has failed to deliver
LAHORE:
After the 2018 general election, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) flag will be hoisted not only at the prime minister’s residence, but also the president and chief minister houses.
PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari made this statement while addressing party workers at Bilawal House on Saturday. The convention was organised for party representatives from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) to mark PPP’s 49th Foundation Day.
Bilawal announced he would become the next prime minister of Pakistan after winning the 2018 general elections. Raising the hand of PPP K-P President Humayun Khan, Bilawal said if party workers supported him in the 2018 general elections, he would become the next prime minister.
“Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had failed to deliver masses. Even after holding the office for the third time, he was not running governmental affairs transparently and efficiently,” he added.
The PPP Chairman said his was the only federal party in the country. “It is the biggest political party of the country and has presence in all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir.” Bilawal said if Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif did not accept his four demand of democratic accountability by December 27 and to replace Federal Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, the PPP would raise a ‘go Nawaz go’ slogan from Khyber to Karachi.
Bilawal said Pakistan was passing through very difficult situations and a few people who were reading Indian Prime Minister Modi’s or America’s script. “God forbid if Muslims or Pakistan have to face a World War I like situation. India and few people from the United States are speaking in a different tone,” he underscored.
The PPP leader said K-P was sinking in a tsunami of terrorism, but the government was not able address the problem.
Responding to workers slogans against Imran Khan, young PPP Chairman Bilawal said Khan was his favourite ‘chacha’ (uncle) who was already crying. Party workers should not tease him more. People of K-P were very honourable, he said, adding they do not use foul language against anyone.
Scores of party leaders and a large number of workers from K-P attended workers convention on fourth-day of the 49th Foundation Day celebrations. Colours of K-P were seen everywhere in and around Bilawal House. Pakhtun party stalwarts in traditional attire – baggy shalwar suits, big shawls, turbans or Chitrali caps – started to reach the party chairman’s Lahore residence from the morning.
The now famous DJ Butt, of PTI dharna fame, played famous Pashto melodies and party songs and kept the youth entertained. Folk singers and artists warmed up party workers with their splendid performances.
Meanwhile, addressing a party meeting, Bilawal announced that he would contest by-elections for NA-207 Old Larkana, which was stronghold of his mother Benazir Bhutto. However, he left the decision of time on the party.
The NA-207 seat was won by the former president Asif Ali Zardari’s sister Faryal Talpur in 2013 general elections. The party had already decided Talpur would vacate her seat after reorganisation of the party for her nephew. The constituency is now included in Qambar Shahdad Kot district after the division of Larkana.
