KARACHI:
Punjab Information Technology Board’s (PITB) Plan9 project and International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore new avenues of partnership for entrepreneurs of both sides.

Both the institutions will collaborate in the areas of mutual interest, including Internet of Things (IoT), information technology, etc.

The memorandum was signed at a ceremony held at the Science Information Centre at ICCBS. ICCBS Director Iqbal Choudhary and Usama Tauqeer, representing the Entrepreneurship & Enterprise Development, PITB, signed the agreement.

Speaking on the occasion, Choudhary said this was a good initiative taken by PITB to promote entrepreneurship among youth and newcomers.

He said this agreement was linked with the ICCBS Technology Incubator & Industrial Park (TIIP), which was going to be launched soon at the ICCBS. He said the technology park would bridge the gap between the industry and universities, and fuel the process of organised development work.

ICCBS is the first institute in Pakistan to be recognised as United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation Centre for Excellence (UNESCO) Category-2 Institute, he mentioned.

Usama Tauqeer said Plan9’s network partners’ vision was promoting entrepreneurship in Pakistan by collaborating with institutions and organisations that share the same vision.

He said Plan9 was aimed at replicating its model of business incubation that was considered credible globally.
