We never work to cause revolution: Amitabh Bachchan
Actor feels young artists are apprehensive about experimenting with roles
NEW DELHI:
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has entertained movie buffs with films such as Zanjeer, Sholay, Paa and Piku. Known to be the ‘Shahenshah’ of Bollywood, he also revolutionised television with his game show Kaun Banega Crorepati in his almost five-decade-long career. However, the actor shared he does not work to spark a revolution.
The National Award-winning actor has now lent his voice to a mythical hero – Astra the Immortal in the new animated superhero series Astra Force. “We never work because we are going to cause a revolution. We work because we enjoy doing something and hope people like it,” said Bachchan. He feels that when young actors need to experiment with something different, there is always an apprehension.
Talking about the upcoming serial, he added, “During my time, the kind of superheroes that kids see today, we didn’t have. The Lone Ranger and Superman were my favourites. As time passed, generations grew up with different kind of superheroes. This show is an attempt to combine the two generations.”
The actor feels proud of the fact that there is a tremendous amount of animation talent in India.
“A lot of the work in Hollywood comes from here in India. They got a lot of talent from here. I am proud of the fact that we have the talent here which matches anything that is best in the world.”
