Laws for journalists: ‘Govt believes in freedom of expression’
The minister said that an endowment fund will be set up for the welfare of the journalists
ISLAMABAD:
Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that the government believes in the freedom of expression.
Talking to media on Wednesday, she said that the freedom of expression is imperative to take society forward. She said that it is responsibility of the media to follow the code of conduct and media organisations should also define their own code of conduct.
She said that under the directives of the premier, legislation is underway for the safety and security of journalists.
She said the draft of the bill will be sent to the media houses for their input to make it more comprehensive.
