Capital’s hospitals: Senators recommend more funding

ISLAMABAD: The Senate Functional Committee on Government Assurances on Tuesday recommended for allocation of extra funds for Pakistan Institute of Medical Science (PIMS) and Polyclinic. The committee met here with Agha Shahbaz Khan Durrani in the chair. The committee was informed that the two government hospitals had some 2,100 beds to cater to over 5,000 patients daily. Some 1,700 patients daily visited the 52-bed emergency ward, he added. Regarding the domicile verifications of FATA employees, the Civil Aviation Division secretary informed the committee that verification of the credentials of 92 out of 95 employees had been completed. The body decided to get verified the domiciles of 95 employees from the parliamentarians of the relevant constituencies. About the Nullah Leh project, the committee was told that the project started in 2007 after the approval of ECNEC and would cost Rs1.8 billion.
