Millat Park robbery: Police arrest two suspects from Jhang
Men identified through pictures obtained from CCTV footage
LAHORE:
City investigations police claimed on Tuesday to have arrested two suspects from Jhang involved in the Millat Park robbery incident in which five people were shot dead for offering resistance.
A senior police officer confirmed the two men, identified as Zahid and Bassu, were arrested after identification through CCTV footage. Police acquired the suspects’ pictures from cameras installed in nearby buildings on the spot.
The images were shown to eyewitnesses for identification and also sent to NADRA. The identity obtained through the national database was checked with criminal record. The details matched with criminals, who had formed a robbers’ gang while in jail.
Several recent crime cases, including the targeted killing of a college professor, looting of a family in broad daylight on traffic signal, shooting of a stage actress and the mysterious death of a PML- worker inside MNA hostel has put the police on edge.
In the Chamba House death case, police have taken statements of over 50 people and checked the CCTV footage without any significant progress.
Police have also acquired the data of calls and SMS texts of the victim to track the people in contact with the woman before her death.
