Robot intelligence: Using AI to make robots do more

KARACHI:
The Institute of Business Administration’s (IBA) faculty of computer science has started working on robotics technology.
They are trying to enhance the intelligence of robots and programme them to walk, run and identify a target.
They have also organised robotics workshops to get students interested. Robotics wrestling and a Japanese type of wrestling called robotics sumo wrestling was part of the workshop, which was held on Sunday at the IBA, city campus. Intermediate and A ‘Levels students from several schools and colleges took part in the competitions.
An earlier workshop, held two days ago, trained students on robot designing and computer programming required for robotics wrestling.
IBA Faculty of Computer Science Associate Professor Dr Sajjad Haider told Daily Express that they had used sensors and programmed colours and target identification in robots to prepare them for wrestling. He said that the distance of the target, attacking tactics and fighting methods were also programmed in the robot. “We have used logo minestorms software in this activity,” he added.
