
He promised to work on making the bloc more vibrant and also vowed to take up the issue with governments of the member countries. He said other countries should also play their role for rapid development which would reduce poverty and conflicts.
Alam, who is also President of the ECO Chamber of Commerce, was speaking at the ECO Day at the FPCCI Capital House.
Ambassadors, diplomats and senior leaders of the business community were present on the occasion.
Alam said Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and China should be given observer status in the ECO while decisions taken during different meetings should be implemented.
He said the group could become effective if the issues pertaining to transport and security were resolved. “The world has abandoned political and military alliances and is more focused on economic coalitions,” he added.
