Demotion: ASIs made head constables for helping oil thieves

Reportedly the crude oil was decanted from oil tankers carrying it from oil fields to refineries

ATTOCK: Two assistant-sub inspectors (ASIs) have been made head constables, while an inquiry has also been ordered against them for patronising people involved in crude oil theft.

According to reports, a police party led by ASP Zia uddin raided a hotel near Rangli Bus stop in the jurisdiction of Jand police station and recovered more than 4,000 litres of crude oil stored illegally there and arrested Aftab Alam and Muhammad Farooq.

Reportedly the crude oil was decanted from oil tankers carrying it from oil fields to refineries. During the initial investigation suspects Aftab and Farooq said that ASI Nawaz and ASI Zafar helped them.

Following the disclosure, police authorities suspended and demoted the two to the rank of head constable.
