KARACHI:
The sole surviving Pakistani at the IBSF World Snooker Championship exited the tournament as national champion Mohammad Bilal lost his quarter-final tie 6-5 at the hands of Welshman Andrew Pagett in Doha, yesterday.

Debutant Bilal, who had defeated Swiss Alexander Ursenbacher 5-3 in the round of 16 late on Sunday night, gave Pagett a run for his money before finally surrendering in the final frame of a fully-stretched best-of-eleven-frame quarter-final.

“It was unfortunate for Bilal to lose the final frame,” Naveed Kapadia, the Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association official, told The Express Tribune.

He added, “Bilal was making his debut in the event and his overall performance remained outstanding.”

Meanwhile, Imran Shehzad and Naveen Perwani — Pakistan’s remaining entrants in the Masters’ event — crashed out following defeats in the round of 16.
