Additional judges: JCP summoned over appointments

The JCP will also consider the confirmation of two additional judges of the Islamabad High Court

ISLAMABAD: A meeting of Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) has been summoned to consider the appointment of 5 additional judges of Peshawar High Court. The meeting has been called by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, which will meet on Monday (today). PHC Chief Justice Mazhar Alam Mian Khel has sent names of two judges and three lawyers to the Judicial Commission for consideration. They are Muhammad Bashir, Muhammad Ayyub Marwat and three lawyers include Umer Farooq, Muzammal Khan and Mian Hussain. Judicial Commission will consider these names and recommend their appointment as judges of high court. The JCP will also consider the confirmation of two additional judges of the Islamabad High Court, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb. According to the Constitution, the procedure of appointment of superior courts’ judges, the JCP, after confirmation, will propose the names to the parliamentary committee following which the president will approve the names.
