Violence Against Women: Convention calls for raising voices

ISLAMABAD:
Investing in women has a transformational effect on economic and social uplift of individuals, communities and countries around the globe, speakers at a convention titled ‘Recognising the Efforts of Women Community Leaders,’ said. Sindh Minister for Social Welfare Shameem Mumtaz said women must speak up against violence. “The challenges are huge but so is the potential. We need to continue to work together to raise our voices and change behaviour towards violence against women,” she said. The moot was organised by AWAZ programme, to mark 16 days of Activism against Gender Violence, in which women community leaders from 45 districts of Pakistan gathered.
