ISLAMABAD: The National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (Navttc) has started testing students through practical exams and interviews rather than depending on the old system of written examinations.

The assessment tests of trainees at Navttc affiliated institutions were held under the new system across the country from November 14 to 16, according to a Navttc statement.

The commission has decided to replace the old and out dated system of examination with modern method of assessment which involves 90% marks for the practical test and the rest in the interview, the statement said.

The practice is in vogue in the developed countries to assess trainees of technical and vocational institutes, it said.

During assessments, trainees will be required to display their technical skills to experts of the relevant industry. Out of three assessors, two will be industrial experts who would assess the skills and knowledge of the trainees exhibited during the practical exercises.
