ISLAMABAD:
The country’s top accountability body is studying the impact of its one-window operations which it had set up at the Capital Development Authority and office of the chief commissioner of Islamabad.

Chairing a meeting to review monthly progress of the decisions taken in the last coordination meeting held at National Accountability Bureau (NAB) headquarters in Islamabad on Friday, NAB Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry directed the director general Awareness and Prevention to study the utility and effectiveness of the one window operations being operated at CDA and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) commissioner office.

The campaign looks into public requests, grievances and complaints at all such government departments and provides prompt and efficient response to the public in order to reduce the culture of giving bribes to corrupt officials in order to avoid lengthy queues.

The outcome of the one window operation facility at CDA and ICT will be examined and recommendations would be forwarded to the concerned departments after approval of the competent authority for further revamp the operation.

Reviewing other aspects of the bureau, Chaudhry said that corruption and bribery thrive on systematic weaknesses.

However, he pointed out that NAB is essentially a complaint driven organisation.

Referring to the awareness and prevention campaign, “Say No to Corruption”, which the authority had launched under Section 33-C of the NAB ordinance, the NAB chief said that role of print and electronic media was very important in eradication of corruption.

In this regard, he said that NAB has proposed to all newspapers to join hands with NAB by printing the body’s message.
