Operating illegally: 450 blood banks closed

Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority (SBTA) secretary Dr Zahid Hasan Ansari has said that SBTA has closed 450 illegal and substandard blood banks across the province. He said this in a statement issued on Friday, adding that about 159 blood banks have been functioning in Sindh and SBTA kept a vigilant eye on their overall performance. "SBTA is aware of its duties and responsibilities and [is] committed to taking prompt action against illegal and substandard blood banks," he said.
