The vision and philosophies of Dr Allama Mohammad Iqbal are as important today as they were nearly 100 years ago when they were propounded.

A seminar on “contemporary perspectives of Iqbal’s thoughts” was jointly organised by the Urdu and Persian language departments of National University of Modern Languages (NUML) at NUML on Monday.

In their address, the speakers said that Iqbal was not only worried about the plight of Muslims of the sub-continent but those spread across the globe. Iqbal, they said, strived hard to awaken the Muslims and recall their golden past through his poetry.

Speakers said Iqbal’s thoughts are as important today as they were in the previous century because Muslims had failed to grasp the essence of Iqbal’s message and that’s why today the situation is so bad.

“We need to act on what Iqbal said in letter and spirit to come out of this crisis,” they urged.
