Sialkot lynching: Chohan skips trial due to 'backache'

The Gujranwala Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) had summoned all witnesses of the case on February 25 and 26.

GUJRANWALA:
The anti-terrorism court here accepted suspended District Police Officer Sialkot Waqar Chohan’s application to exempt him from physical appearance in court due to a backache.

Chohan has been charged with negligence in his duties with regard to the brutal killing of two teenagers in Sialkot and is out on bail.

Judge Chaudhry Mushtaq Ahmad accepted Chohan's application during the hearing of the case .

During the hearing, the former DPO's doctor informed the court that Chohan is suffering from a back ache and cannot appear in court.


The court accepted the application and allowed Chohan to appear in court through his lawyer.

The Gujranwala Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) had summoned all witnesses of the case on February 25 and 26 to record their statements.

On Saturday all 27 nominated accused, including the suspended DPO Sialkot Waqar Chohan, appeared before the court, while two witnesses recorded their statements.

The hearing has been adjourned till tomorrow.
