LAHORE: The monitoring of riverine and inter-provincial check posts was discussed at a high-level meeting of police officials held via video link on Monday at Central Police Office in Lahore.

It was decided that regional and district police officers must return within a week vehicles assigned at riverine and inter-provincial check posts. Letters should be issued to those who fail to do so.

A formal system will be introduced to monitor these check posts. It will be mandatory for the SHO, circle officer and district police officer to visit the posts in their respective areas once a week.

Technicians will be deployed for the maintenance of CCTV cameras and computers installed at inter-provincial check posts. All check posts will be monitored around the clock at Central Police Office.

Internet connection speed should be improved for all check-posts within two weeks and logistics branch should solve any issue regarding this matter.

Punjab IGP Mushtaq Sukhera said the living standards should be improved of all the officials working for the security of different projects. Their accommodations should be kept clean and they should be allowed to rest every week.

Punjab Highway Patrol DIG Ghulam Mahmood Dogar said 122,478 vehicles were searched at inter-provincial and motorway entry and exit check posts.
