District courts: Mayor promises to upgrade facilities

Directs CDA to address issues of water supply and sewerage

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (IMC) Mayor and Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Sheikh Anser Aziz Saturday promised to upgrade facilities at the district courts in Sector F-8.

Addressing members of the Islamabad Bar Association (IBA) at the Shuhada Hall in F-8 Markaz, Aziz said that all available resources would be utilised to upgrade facilities at the District Courts and IBA.

Lawyers have been playing an active role in society and their struggle and sacrifices for restoration of democracy in the country cannot be ignored.

In this regard, he said that the sewerage system in the existing Judicial Complex in F-8 Markaz would be upgraded while the sanitation system in the complex would further be improved on a regular basis till the new Judicial Complex in the capital is ready.

Moreover, Aziz said that new public toilets would be constructed to facilitate visitors, while additional sanitation staff would be deployed in the Judicial Complex to improve cleanliness and hygiene.

Listening to complaints of the lawyers, Aziz assured them that issues relating to street lights and ensure a steady supply of water to the complex.

The mayor assured members of the IBA that new Judicial Complex would be equipped with all latest facilities including chambers for lawyers, adding that he would personally request Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to ensure provision of all facilities for lawyers in the new judicial complex.

“We will request the prime minister to pay a visit [to the complex],” he further added.

Aziz appreciated the active role lawyers have been playing in the society, adding that their struggle and sacrifices for restoration of democracy in the country cannot be ignored.

Later, the mayor and office bearers of IBA visited different areas of the existing Judicial Complex and inspected the available facilities, including the sewerage and water supply system.

He also reviewed the problems faced by the lawyers community in the complex and Aziz directed the relevant formations of CDA to address the problems with immediate effect.

Earlier, Islamabad Bar Association President Muhammad Tayyab Advocate and General Secretary Zafar Khokhar Advocate welcoming the mayor, informed him about the problems faced by the lawyers community.

Islamabad High Court Bar Association President Tariq Mehmood Jehangiri Advocate welcomed the visit of mayor and expressed his hope that their problems would be addressed in proper manner.
