Three FC personnel, traffic warden shot dead in Quetta firing

QUETTA: Three Frontier Corps (FC) personnel and a traffic police constable were shot dead by unknown gunmen while a passerby was injured in a populated area of Quetta Saturday evening.

“FC soldiers were deployed at the Fatima Jinnah and Yat road crossing when an armed man targeted them and managed to escape from the scene.” DIG Quetta Abdul Razaq Cheema told reporters.

A heavy contingent of FC and police along with rescue workers reached the site and cordoned off the area. The injured were shifted to trauma centre of Civil Hospital, Quetta.

“Proper evidences are yet to be collected from the crime scene, but initially, we discovered that a motorbike was used in the attack.” the DIG said, adding that further investigation is underway.

Meanwhile, Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri condemned the killing of the security forces and sought a report from security authorities. He directed concerned officials to take all possible steps to arrest terrorists targeting the security forces.

The deceased FC soldiers were identified as Muhammad Younas, Muhammad Ali, Ahmed Nawaz and Traffic Constable Shah Wali. Injured passerby Gul Muhammad is being treated in the hospital.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet. This was the fourth major attack targeting the FC since June.

On October 24, over 60 security personnel were killed and 165 others injured as terrorists stormed New Sariab Police Training College near Quetta.
