Karate player Arzoo dies after road accident

Arzoo Haider Ali, a prominent female karate player who brought laurels to the province and the country by winning gold and silver medals in national games, passed away on Wednesday morning after sustaining critical injuries in a road accident.

According to reports, the incident occurred on April 20 when Arzoo was traveling on a scooty with a fellow player from Hazara Town to Ayub Stadium to participate in a karate championship. Near CPEC Chowk on Spini Road, the scooty reportedly slipped due to debris from ongoing construction work, causing her to fall onto the roadside pavement.

As a result of the fall, she suffered severe injuries and was immediately shifted to a private hospital, where she remained under treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for two days. Despite efforts by medical staff, she could not recover and succumbed to her injuries.

Arzoo Haider Ali was regarded as a talented and dedicated athlete, known for her achievements in national-level competitions. Her untimely death has cast a shadow of grief over the local sports community, with fellow athletes and officials expressing deep sorrow over the loss of a promising sports figure.

The tragic incident has also raised concerns regarding safety conditions on city roads, particularly the presence of construction debris that poses risks to commuters.
