Dr Ibrahim Almani is believed to be 'mentally disturbed'.

HYDERABAD:
Police arrested a man on Saturday for keeping his two children and mother hostage at an apartment in Hyderabad.

The law enforcement agency broke into the apartment located on the first floor of Sana Centre, Qasimabad town, arrested Dr Ibrahim Almani and set free the hostages. The children aged between 5 to 7 years.

The suspect, who works for Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), was also reported to have fired aerial shots resisting his detention.

Couple arrested for selling daughter in Nowshera


Earlier, Qaumi Awami Tehreek's president Ayaz Latif Palijo and Almani's sister Dr Raheela Almani negotiated with the suspect to convince him come out of his apartment and release the hostages.

During his conversation with Palijo from inside the apartment, the suspect claimed that he was not mentally sick but that 'ceaseless injustices' had made him so.

Meanwhile, according to neighbours, they did not see Dr Almani's children coming out of the house for a couple of days, while he would leave his apartment occasionally perhaps to buy edible items.

On August 15, police arrested a couple that had sold their newborn daughter to a gang that was involved in kidnapping and then selling newborn babies. The couple was arrested during a raid conducted by the police in Pabbi, Nowshera. The man identified as Imtiaz and his wife Farhat Bibi had sold their child to a woman for Rs94,000.
