BAHAWALPUR:
A woman raped allegedly by her neighbour about four years ago in Bahawalpur has appealed to the judiciary and higher authorities to provide her justice. The suspect in the case have been granted bail by the court.

Police told The Express Tribune that the rape survivor registered a complaint at the police station, saying  she had been living with her five children in a house in Qasim Town while her husband worked abroad.

She said four years ago, her neighbour Hamid Abbasi raped her and also recorded the video of the heinous crime.

Since then, the suspect had been blackmailing her and threatening to upload the video on social media.

Over the years, the complainant said the accused took about Rs800,000, jewellery, valuables and cellphones from her while threatening her with
making the video viral on social media.

The woman said when she refused to give more money to Hamid, he sent the video  of her rape to her husband.

When the woman approached the suspect’s brother Adil Abbasi for help, he also threatened her with dire consequences.

“I have been harassed and threatened. I fear Hamid might upload the video on social media. I want justice,” the woman said while speaking to The Express Tribune.

The public relations officer of the Bahawalpur DPO said the case was already in court and criminals involved in the incident have been granted bail.

The next hearing is due on November 21.”
