Senators and regional focal persons of the medical practitioners’ regulatory body will be inspecting different private teaching hospitals to check whether they are complying with the policy of 50 per cent free check-ups for poor patients.
The Senate Standing Committee on National Health Services that met on Wednesday assigned its members the task to visit private teaching hospitals along with Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) officials whether they are providing free treatment to 50 percent admitted patients or not.
The sub-committees will present their reports to the committee regarding the implementation of the PMDC policy.
The committee also discussed the new admission policy of PMDC that has been challenged in courts. The committee members said it’s a good policy but has been announced late and should be implemented next year to give a proper time frame.
