Sonam Kapoor didn’t want to be Bollywood’s fashion icon
The Khoobsurat actor feels today’s generation does not know how to do things in moderation
Ever since she made her Bollywood debut with Saawariya, Sonam Kapoor has been hailed as a fashion icon. However, the Khoobsurat actor recently revealed that she does not dress up to look pretty for other people but because it makes her feel good.
“I didn’t intend to become a fashion icon. I dress up for myself. I don’t dress up to look pretty for other people but because I love fashion and clothes,” Bollywood.com quoted her as saying. Sonam also feels that being a fashionista is not her job. “It’s an extension of my personality. I am passionate about acting — that’s my craft and vocation. Fashion is something that is entrenched in my life because I enjoy it. I like looking good and love different clothes. That’s why I consider fashion an art and think of fashion designers as artists.”
Besides fashion, Sonam has also been at the forefront when it comes to using social media to promote her films. Speaking about this, she added, “Social media is a great form of communication and a great tool. Misusing anything can be bad. You have to use social media effectively to communicate, make a difference and understand people. I love it, because I don’t misuse it.”
On the same note, Sonam feels today’s generation does not know how to do things in moderation.
“We overuse and overdo things and there is a need for moderation in everything. You shouldn’t misuse it. Being able to use it effectively can only come from education and awareness.”
