LAHORE: Unidentified assailants shot dead a college professor in Lahore's Iqbal Town in an apparent incident of targeted killing on Tuesday.

Professor Rao Altaf Hussain of Government College of Science, Wahdat Road was killed when his car was fired upon by armed motorcyclists.

Hussain was returning home after dropping off his son at school when the incident occurred. The professor’s body was later shifted to Mayo Hospital, Lahore.

Meanwhile, police have collected evidence from the site and started investigation. The law enforcement agency is also trying to access closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage of the incident.

Man kills ex-fiancé in anger

Earlier on October 26, a university teacher was gunned down in the Sera-e-Saleh police jurisdiction. The murder was the result of an old family feud and not a targeted killing, police said.

They quoted Khan Bahadur, a resident of Kailag village, as saying that his brother-in-law, Sajid Khan, was a lecturer of Mathematics at Abbottabad University of Science & Technology in Havelian.
