Protest: Unions demand recovery of kidnapped workers
Union of hydro-electric workers demand the recovery of kidnapped Tribal Electric Supply Company (Tesco) employees.
PESHAWAR:
The union of hydro-electric workers demanded the recovery of kidnapped Tribal Electric Supply Company (Tesco) employees and warned suspending power supply to the province in case of failure to do so.
The demand was made by Pakistan Hydro Electric Union Chairman Mohammad Iqbal, Secretary Gohar Taj and Deputy Chairman Mustajab Mazdooryar while addressing a protest rally of Wapda workers here on Wednesday.
The rally was held after a call from the central leadership of the union asking employees nationwide to hold protests, rallies and public meetings to assert their rights.
They protested the proposed privatisation of Wapda, failure to recover the kidnapped Tesco employees, delays in the promotions of employees, lack of payment of 40 per cent “hard area allowance”, delays in implementation of pay and pension committee recommendations, price hike and unemployment.
