HARIPUR: A married woman was rushed to the Ayub Medical Complex, Abbottabad in critical condition on Friday after she attempted suicide in Hattar village.

According to Hattar police, 25-year-old Umara Bibi*, 25, had married Malik Adil in her village around a year ago.

Their family members said that the two were cousins and that it was a love marriage.

However, soon after their marriage, differences developed between them and they used to quarrel off and on.

On Thursday evening, they had exchanged hot words yet again and Umara* stormed off to her room and stabbed herself in the stomach.

She was rushed to the Women and Children Hospital where doctors referred her to the Ayub Medical Complex, Abbottabad. Doctors described her condition as critical due to excessive bleeding.

Police, however, say they have managed to record her statement in which she confessed trying to attempt suicide. Subsequently, a criminal case under Section 325 of the PPC was registered against her.
