Illustrating life through a magazine

Sumeha Khalid recently launched her monthly magazine Life Illustrated at T2F.

KARACHI:
A new magazine called Life Illustrated hit stores with its March 2011 issue. Sumeha Khalid, a freelance journalist who previously worked with a leading newspaper, is an entrepreneurial brain behind the launch of the new magazine that marked its inaugural on February 22 at T2F.

The magazine is set to cover various aspects of life which include current happenings in Pakistan. The publication will incorporate segments ranging from socio-civic issues, life and style, entertainment and sports. In addition, it was also revealed that, with the advent of the World Cup, sports will dominate the magazine’s first issue to hit stands in March 2011.

“At this point, I thought it’s time I balance my professional and private life. I felt that there was a dearth of good lifestyle magazines in Pakistan that help keep our family values intact. And hence, I thought about launching one such magazine,” said Khalid.

The journalist further added that her target audience includes the entire household, “I want to cater to everyone and take my magazine to every person in a household; women, men and children — they should be able to read it,” said Khalid.

“With the minimal reading habits of our people, I plan to give insights into interesting topics, and I have picked people like Huma Adnan and Nadya Mistry for the fashion segments, Maryam Shera on educational segment, Joshinder Chagger for the dance segment, Sirajuddin Aziz on how to make Pakistan a better place to live and many others to give their input,”added the journalist.

Khalid further reiterated that she wants to play a huge role in encouraging the youth to write for her publication, “I would like to provide a platform to the youth — we plan to publish their ideas and thoughts in this magazine,” adds Khalid.
