Poet of the east: University of Gujrat gets a session on Iqbal’s poetry

Her discussion was dotted with inspirational verses from Iqbal's poetry

SIALKOT: Justice (retd) Nasira Javed Iqbal, the daughter-in-law of the national poet, Allama Muhammad Iqbal, said on Friday the ‘poet of the east’ wanted the upbringing of the Muslim youth under his concept of 'Khudi' (self-realisation).

She was addressing participants in a day-long seminar on Iqbaliyat 'Apna Muqam Paida Kar', held at the auditorium of University of Gujrat, Sialkot campus.

Nasira shared interesting tales of Iqbal’s childhood with the audience.

Her discussion was dotted with inspirational verses from Iqbal's poetry, followed by a detailed explanation of the verses, ensuring that students fully understand Iqbal's concepts.

While, Iqbal's other daughter-in-law who was visiting from Russia, Aysha Salman, on the occasion paid homage to the great poet, and said Iqbal was read and liked in various other countries including Russia.
