Facilitating special persons: DCO orders installation of ramps in govt offices

Sets Nov 30 deadline to facilitate special persons

BAHAWALPUR: To facilitate special persons, District Coordination Officer Bahawalpur Dr Ehtisham Anwer Mahar has ordered completion of construction of ramps at all government offices by November 30. He issued these directions while presiding over a meeting of the district committee to address the problems of special persons at his committee room on Friday.

"Free of cost capacity-building training courses, sports tournaments and seminars are to be held for special persons to enhance skills and awareness,” he said.

He also directed to appoint a focal person at special education institutions to facilitate people with hearing and speech impairments to conduct their official duties in a conducive environment.

The meeting also directed to the concerned quarters to expedite the recruitment of special persons according to government rules, provision of books, ensuring provision of special allowance amounting to Rs1000 for employed special persons and concession in transport fare for them.

The meeting was attended by EDO Community Development Aftab Peerzada, Assistant Commissioner Headquarter Muhammad Tayyab, focal person for blind community Dr Anees-ur-Rehman, focal person people with hearing and speech impairments Mirza Waseem Baig, focal person for physical disable persons Muhammad Luqman, senior social welfare officer Ghulam Yaseen Baloch, Special Education District Officer Shazi Hashmat and other officers and officials of the concerned departments.
