Pneumonia key cause of child mortality
Punjab was able to increase routine immunisation progress from 64% to 86% as per Neilsen Survey, said EPI Director

Effective efforts are being made to reduce the mortality rate in children due to pneumonia.
Provincial Health Director General Dr Mukhtar Hussain said this during a meeting at the Committee Room of the DG health services in Lahore on Thursday. He highlighted some of the steps taken by the primary and secondary healthcare department to protect, prevent and treat pneumonia in the province.
“In Punjab, a new initiative to provide medical commodities for children suffering with pneumonia and diarrhoea has been initiated in 2016. The plan is being pilot tested in five districts with support from UNICEF,” he added.
