The goods train was on its way to Lal Pir near Multan from Karachi when it derailed at Luqman railway crossing. However, no fatality was reported. Upon information, railway officials reached the spot in a rescue train and the track was cleared after three hours.
According to witnesses, many bolts of fishplates were missing, which may have resulted in the derailment of the bogie. The railway officials started fixing the missing bolts once the track was cleared. Upon contact, Sukkur railway divisional superintendent Aijaz Ahmed Buriro confirmed the restoration of the track but denied that bolts were missing from the track. It is a main track and passengers pass through it at the speed of 110 kilometres per hour. However, he admitted that bolts are missing on some tracks, which are not used frequently.
