KARACHI: Former governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan said that he will write a book on his 14-year-long tenure as provincial governor. He was speaking during his farewell at Governor House on Thursday.

“I will finish my book in six months,” he said, adding that it will be a memoir, which will focus on the realities of his tenure. However, he was vague when asked if he plans to stay in Pakistan or leave for abroad.

Earlier, Khan went to State Guest House and met President Mamnoon Hussain. According to the Governor House spokesperson, the two discussed the current political situation and Hussain lauded the services of Khan.

Addressing bureaucrats and ministers, Khan said, “I am thankful to all of you for obliging me.” He added that he is leaving the Governor House with cherished memories.

“I really appreciate the leadership of Pakistan Peoples Party, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) for trusting me,” he said.

Soon after the oath-taking ceremony of the new governor, Khan will leave for abroad, said an official requesting anonymity. “He had approached MQM-Pakistan to re-join the party, but received lukewarm response. He has now decided to leave the country for some time,” said a source in the Governor House.

CM welcomes new governor

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah called on the new governor, Justice (retd) Saeeduzaman Siddiqui, at his residence and congratulated him on the appointment.

Shah hoped that Siddiqui will serve the people of Sindh with the same spirit as he had served the people of Pakistan. Siddique thanked the CM and appreciated his efforts to establish good governance in the province.
