Motorway pile-up leaves 19 dead

Last week, at least 19 people died and over 146 received injuries when around a dozen vehicles collided with each other due to fog on M-2 Motorway in Punjab’s Hafizabad district.

Some reports said the pile-up occurred two kilometres after Kot Sarwar Interchange when the driver of a Lahore-bound bus suddenly applied brakes after missing a turn on the road due to smog.

The vehicles coming from behind at a considerable speed rammed into each other, causing the disaster. The vehicles included a truck, three Mazdas, two coasters, two buses, a minibus and two cars.
