Two SHC judges denied service extensions

Parliamentary committee on appointment of judges rejects one-year service extensions to two SHC judges.

ISLAMABAD:
The parliamentary committee on appointment of judges to the superior judiciary has rejected one-year service extensions to two Sindh High Court (SHC) judges.

The eight-member committee, headed by Senator Nayyar Bokhari, met on Tuesday at the Parliament House and endorsed the judicial commission’s recommendations for extending the terms of four additional SHC judges but turned down the cases of two judges of the same court.

Those who have been granted extension included Justice Hassan Ali Rizvi, Justice Mohammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Nisar Ahmad Sheikh and Justice Imam Bakhsh, while those whose extensions were rejected are Justice Tasneem Aslam and Justice Sajjad Hamid.

The committee members said that they will present the reason for rejection to the prime minister, who will in turn inform the judicial commission about the decision.
