LAHORE: Five months after the death of a woman, allegedly due to medical negligence, the Badami Bagh police are reluctant to register an FIR.

The deceased’s husband, Waseem, said that his wife, Ayesha, had been admitted in the Hussain Memorial Hospital in Shahdara, in October last. He alleged that the hospital, despite not having necessary operating facilities, convinced him for Ayesha’s caesarean. “After the baby was born, she did not regain consciousness,” he said . The hospital management transferred Ayesha to Mayo Hospital the next day, without consulting the family, where she died within a few hours. According to Waseem, doctors at Mayo Hospital said water had entered into her lungs due to improper administration of anaesthesia, causing her death. Dr Saba, the accused doctor, denied the charges. Dr Shahbaz, the hospital owner, said that Waseem was blackmailing them.
