LAHORE:
Junior doctors staged a 24/7 sit-in protest on Tuesday outside the Chief Minister Secretariat on Mall Road on the 13 consecutive day of their strike.

A large number of doctors, nurses and paramedical staff started marching from Mayo Hospital at 10am towards the CM secretariat while the sit-in protest started at 2pm.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Young Doctors Association (YDA) spokesperson Dr Zafarullah said that in the morning they were called at the civil secretariat by office-bearers of the health department but negotiations failed as the department was not willing to accept demands of the young doctors.

He said that Health Secretary Najam Shah should be sacked for misusing public office to victimise doctors, nurses and paramedical staff over personal grudges.

After negotiations, the law enforcement agencies opened one way of the Mall Road.

On the other hand, outpatients departments at Jinnah and Mayo hospital remained closed.
