Protesting Arrests: KKH briefly blocked in Danyor
A district administration official said the arrests fell under the National Action Plan
GILGIT:
Protesters on Monday briefly blocked Karakoram Highway (KKH) to force the government to release activists who had been detained for holding a religious event in a school. “We are protesting against the arrest of our leaders and activists and ban on religious events,” said Wajahat Ali, one of the activists who had blocked the highway. The protesters blocked the KKH near the degree college in Gilgit and Danyor for around 15 minutes. Police had on Sunday arrested over two dozen activists of the Imamia Students Organisation for holding a religious event at a school in Danyor. A district administration official said the arrests fell under the National Action Plan.
