Sector D-12: CDA approves Rs198m to complete work
Money will be spent on developing D-12 Markaz, installing streetlights

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Monday approved Rs198 million for immediate completion of leftover development work in Sector D-12. This decision was taken in a meeting at CDA Headquarters to review progress on work in the sector.
The meeting apportioned Rs192 million for development of D-12 Markaz, while another Rs5.2 million would be spent on installing streetlights in the sector.
Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation Mayor Sheikh Anser Aziz, who is also holding the post of CDA chairman, was informed that streetlights on all major roads in Sector D-12 had been fixed and were functional, while soon after the completion of drainage and sewerage systems, streetlights in the remaining areas would also be installed.
Furthermore, to cater to the daily needs of the residents of Sector D-12 and ongoing development work in the sector, a comprehensive strategy had been prepared to fully develop the main market area. Tenders for this purpose would be issued within the next few days.
The mayor was told remaining development work in Sector D-12 was being completed at fast pace.
Aziz said that completion of development work in Sector D-12 was among his top priorities and added that in order to cater the needs of residents of the sector, the agency has already auctioned some commercial plots in the markaz, and more will be offered in upcoming auctions. He said that the Rs193 million allocated for the development of D-12 Markaz would be utilised for construction of footpaths, drainage and sewerage systems, the development of car parking areas, and landscaping and beautification.
“In order to cater to growing housing needs, early completion of development work in the sector has become essential,” the mayor said.
Aziz also directed the environment wing to carryout landscaping on medians and plant trees along all the roads in the sector. He further directed other wings to ensure concerned formations to ensure provision of electricity, gas and water supply in all the areas of the sector.
