Ecclestone supports Bahrain decision
Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone says event has been postponed rather than cancelled.
LONDON:
Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone believes the calling off of the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix was the appropriate course of action in the wake of political unrest in the country.
He also confirms that the March 13 event has been postponed rather than cancelled, although another date has not been decided yet.
“Everybody liked Bahrain and I’m a little bit disappointed now that it has been postponed,” said Ecclestone. However, he is assured that the decision to call it off was the right one. “If you look at the circumstances, that’s the only thing one could do.”
Meanwhile, the teams, mechanics and sponsors will have to be content with opening the season in Melbourne on March 27.
