Grenade Attack: Women, children among 15 injured 

They were taken to Civil Hospital, Karachi, for treatment

KARACHI: Over a dozen people, including women and children, were wounded in a hand grenade attack in the restive Lyari neighbourhood on Friday evening. Police officials said that unidentified armed motorcyclists threw a hand grenade in the Singu Lane area of Lyari within the limits of the Chakiwara police station. The armed assailants later managed to escape after lobbing the grenade. As a result of the explosion, nearly 15 people, including women and children, were injured. They were taken to Civil Hospital, Karachi, for treatment. The police and Rangers reached the site and cordoned off the locality. Police officials said that Lyari-based gangsters were behind the incident while the motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained. Sindh IG Allah Dino Khawaja also took the notice of the incident and asked South DIG Azad Khan to compile a report over the incident.
