Land scam: LHC cancels ex-additional collector’s bail
He pleaded the court to cancel the interim bail granted to the accused
LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court (LHC) has cancelled interim bails of former additional collector Amir Ateeq and other revenue officials involved in a land scam.
Justice Abdul Sami Khan passed the order while allowing a plea filed by Punjab Prosecution Department for bail cancellation of the accused. Earlier, Additional Prosecutor General Abdul Samad submitted that the accused misused their authority and got transferred 1205 kanals costly government land in their names through fake documents.
He submitted that the accused caused loss to the national kitty, but an anti-corruption court granted an interim bail to the accused.
He pleaded the court to cancel the interim bail granted to the accused. The accused’s counsel contended that all allegations levelled against them were baseless. He pleaded with the court to dismiss the petition. However, the court agreed with contentions of the prosecutor and cancelled interim bails.
