ISLAMABAD: International cotton experts called for cultivating insect resistant cotton crop varieties to minimise pest attacks on the cash crop. This strategy would not only help boost quality crop production but will also help enhance farm income. The experts said this while addressing the 75th Plenary meeting of the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC). They were of the view that excessive use of pesticides should be avoided which is creating several environmental hazards. The event was organised by the Ministry of Textile Industry and was attended by 400 delegates from 30 member states including ICAC Director General Jose Sethi. The experts stressed on the need for efficient use of all agriculture inputs including water, fertilisers and other pesticides to enhance productivity.
