The media watchdog announced that Nickelodeon’s licence was suspended over violation of Pemra orders against airing Indian content.

In its statement, Pemra said all distribution networks have been informed about the suspension of Nickelodeon channels and the decision will come into effect immediately. ARY Communications is the channel’s landing rights holder in Pakistan.

On October 19, Pemra clamped a complete ban on airing Indian content on satellite TV channels and radio.

Pemra directed all satellite television channels, as well as radio stations, to follow the code of conduct or else face repercussions. “The ban will come into effect at 3pm on Oct 21. Licences of TV channels and radio stations that go against the ban will be cancelled without any show-cause notice,” a statement issued by the media watchdog had said.
